New York State Joins Federal School Choice Tax Credit Program

New York has opted into the federal Education Freedom Tax Credit program, becoming the 31st state to participate. Governor Kathy Hochul stated the decision was made to ensure New York children benefit from available federal funds, despite pushback from public school advocates. The program, championed by the Trump administration, allows taxpayer-supported scholarships for private school tuition and public school expenses.
