New York State Colleges Waive Application Fees for High School Seniors
Over 130 New York State colleges and universities, including SUNY and CUNY institutions, are waiving application fees for high school seniors as part of the 2026 College Application Initiative. This program, announced by Governor Kathy Hochul, aims to remove financial barriers and encourage more students, particularly from low-income and first-generation backgrounds, to apply to a broader range of colleges. The fee waiver periods will run through October and November.
