MacKenzie Scott Donates $42 Million to 10,000 Degrees to Expand College Success for Low-Income Students
The nonprofit organization 10,000 Degrees, which supports students from low-income backgrounds, has received an unrestricted $42 million gift from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott and Yield Giving. This is the largest donation in the organization's history and will fund a new five-year strategic plan (fiscal years 2027-2031). The plan aims to double the number of college students supported annually from 5,000 to 10,000, expand scholarships and college-readiness programs, improve community college transfer rates, and increase bachelor's degree attainment among transfer students.
