U.S. Department of Education Extends Enrollment Period for 1% Student Loan Interest Rate Reduction

The U.S. Department of Education has extended the deadline for student loan borrowers to enroll in auto pay and receive a 1% interest rate reduction until the end of 2026. The original deadline was September 30, 2026. This extension aims to provide more time for borrowers to benefit from the reduction, which supports those returning to repayment and helps them comply with the new Repayment Assistance Plan.
