New York State to Opt into Federal K-12 School Choice Program

New York has become the 31st state to signal its participation in the Education Freedom Tax Credit program, the first nationwide federal school choice initiative. Governor Kathy Hochul announced the decision, stating the state would not 'leave money on the table' that could benefit children. The program is set to launch on January 1, 2027.
