The US Department of Defense has officially designated Chinese-funded Confucius Institutes on university campuses as a national security threat. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that these organizations, which he called "propaganda cells," had reappeared under different names at 30 universities, aiming to steal intellectual property and infiltrate students' minds. The Pentagon reportedly dismantled these groups over the past two months, impacting higher education institutions.
