Accreditor halts expansion of U. Maine's online program over fast-paced degree concerns

The New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), an accrediting agency, has halted any expansion of the University of Maine at Presque Isle's YourPace online degree program. This decision follows concerns raised about the rapid pace at which some students were completing their degrees. While existing programs are not suspended, the university cannot offer new degrees or majors through YourPace without prior approval during a six-month review period.
