Texas Tech University implements new restrictions on what professors can teach

Texas Tech University, one of the state's 45 public universities, is navigating a wave of higher education policy changes, including new restrictions on what professors can teach. These changes follow Senate Bill 17, a 2023 law banning diversity, equity, and inclusion offices and programs at public universities, and additional state oversight of university curriculum introduced in 2025.
