Google to Default K-12 AI Tools Off, Search to Include AI Features

Google announced that its AI tools, including Gemini and Gemini Notebook, along with Google Search, will be switched off by default for K-12 student accounts. However, schools will have the option to individually enable these services. Notably, the version of Search offered to schools will integrate AI Mode and AI Overviews, meaning districts that choose to ban AI will consequently lose access to Google Search for students.
