Malaysia's Education Ministry Maintains Language Teaching Periods in New Curriculum

The Malaysian Education Ministry has decided to retain 12 teaching periods per week for Bahasa Melayu in national schools (SK), Chinese in Chinese national-type schools (SJKC), and Tamil in Tamil national-type schools (SJKT) under the upcoming School Curriculum 2027 (KP2027). This decision follows extensive consultations with stakeholders regarding language teaching allocations, ensuring that the teaching periods for these languages will not be reduced.
