FilmLA Research indicates a pickup in film and television production in Los Angeles during the second quarter of 2026, particularly in scripted television dramas, which saw a 55.1% increase over the previous quarter. While overall on-location production decreased by 12.7% year-over-year, state tax incentives have attracted 170 projects to California, with 41 new film projects announced in July. This trend is seen as crucial for restoring industry jobs and strengthening the local production economy.
