The domestic summer box office has set a new record, surpassing $4.76 billion, exceeding the previous 2013 record of $4.756 billion. This achievement was significantly bolstered by the strong performance of Sony Pictures' "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," which has accumulated over $923 million domestically and is on track to become one of the highest-grossing films ever. Universal Pictures also contributed substantially, leading studios with $1.23 billion, largely due to Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey."
