Billboard and Luminate to Include Smart Media Albums in Chart Eligibility

Billboard and Luminate have announced that Smart Media Albums will officially be eligible for chart inclusion starting the week of October 2–8, 2026. This marks the first time a new physical music format has been recognized by Billboard since the mid-1980s, establishing a bridge between physical merchandise and digital streaming.
