China Debuts First Fully AI-Generated Feature Film, 'Sanxingdui: Future Past,' Amidst Low Box Office

China's first feature film entirely generated by artificial intelligence, "Sanxingdui: Future Past," premiered in cinemas on October 23, 2026. Despite over 10,000 scheduled screenings, advance ticket sales and total box office takings have been significantly lower than production costs. This release marks a notable technological milestone for China's tech industry, though public reception has been lukewarm.
