U.S. Stocks Waver as Falling Oil Prices and Treasury Yields Influence Market
U.S. stocks wavered in afternoon trading on Wall Street, with the S&P 500 falling 0.1 percent, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 0.3 percent, and the Nasdaq composite falling 0.4 percent as of 2:09 p.m. Eastern. Technology stocks, which started the day higher, began losing ground for a third consecutive day. Falling oil prices and mostly declining Treasury yields helped ease some pressure on the broader market. Brent crude fell 3.6 percent to $74.02 a barrel, and the yield on the 10-year Treasury fell to 4.40 percent from 4.50 percent late Tuesday.
