U.S. durable goods orders fall 4.5% in May, but rise excluding transportation
New orders for manufactured durable goods in the U.S. decreased by $15.6 billion, or 4.5%, in May, ending a two-month streak of increases. This figure was slightly better than the 4.7% contraction expected by analysts. Excluding transportation, durable goods orders increased by 1.3%, marking the strongest figure since June 2023.
