U.S. Current-Account Deficit Widens to $226.8 Billion in Q1 2026

The U.S. current-account deficit, reflecting international economic transactions, expanded by $5.8 billion (2.6 percent) to $226.8 billion in the first quarter of 2026. This deficit represents 2.9 percent of current-dollar gross domestic product, an increase from 2.8 percent in the fourth quarter of 2025.
