ECB Selects 36 Payment Service Providers for Digital Euro Pilot Program

The European Central Bank (ECB) has chosen 36 payment service providers from across the euro area to participate in a pilot program for the digital euro. This initiative, set to commence in the second half of 2027 for a 12-month period, aims to test the digital euro's technical functionality, operational processes, and user experience. The selection follows strong market interest, with over 50 applications received.
