Nepal Prepares Legislation to Issue Foreign Currency Sovereign Debt

The Nepali government has drafted an amendment to its Public Debt Management Act, which would allow it to issue government debt instruments denominated in foreign currency for the first time. This move aims to diversify borrowing sources, as concessional financing from institutions like the World Bank and ADB has limits, and domestic borrowing has been relatively expensive.
