US Economic Data Released: Q1 GDP Revised, May Personal Income and Trade Deficit Increase
The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) released several key economic indicators today. Real gross domestic product (GDP) increased at an annual rate of 2.1 percent in the first quarter of 2026, according to the third estimate. Personal income rose by $181.6 billion (0.7 percent) in May, with personal consumption expenditures (PCE) also increasing by 0.7 percent. Additionally, the U.S. goods and services trade deficit widened to $77.6 billion in May, up from $54.6 billion in April, and the current-account deficit expanded to $226.8 billion in the first quarter of 2026.
