Uruguay's trade balance recorded a deficit of $71.7 million in June 2026, a significant shift from a surplus of $274.8 million in the same period last year. This change was driven by a 35.5% year-on-year surge in imports to $1.18 billion, primarily due to a 57% increase in intermediate goods and a 1,286.1% jump in electricity purchases. Exports, meanwhile, fell by 3.2% to $1.11 billion.
