Serbia and Ukraine Pledge Closer Economic Ties, Aim for Free Trade Deal by Year-End

Serbia and Ukraine have agreed to deepen economic cooperation, with both nations committing to finalize a long-stalled free trade agreement by the end of 2026. This commitment was made during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to Belgrade, marking his first visit to Serbia since 2019. The agreement is considered crucial for Serbia's bid to join the World Trade Organization and is a prerequisite for its European Union membership. Serbia also pledged humanitarian aid and support for Ukraine's energy sector.
