European Central Bank Raises Key Interest Rates by 25 Basis Points
The European Central Bank (ECB) increased its three key interest rates by 25 basis points on September 10, 2026. The main refinancing operations rate now stands at 4%, the marginal lending facility at 4.25%, and the deposit facility at 3.5%. ECB President Christine Lagarde indicated that further rate hikes might be necessary as eurozone inflation, which was 3.3% in August, remains above the 2% target and is not yet considered "sufficiently restrictive."
