U.S. Nonfarm Employment Shows Little Change in September 2026

Total U.S. nonfarm payroll employment saw little change in September 2026, increasing by a modest 29,000 jobs. This follows an average monthly gain of 45,000 over the preceding 12 months. Both private service-providing and goods-producing industries experienced minimal changes in employment, as did total government employment.
