WakeMed seeks to combine with Atrium Health, North Carolina's largest hospital system

WakeMed Health, a nonprofit hospital serving the Raleigh area, is pursuing a combination with Charlotte-based Atrium Health. This proposed merger, if approved by regulators, would significantly expand Atrium Health's presence in the Triangle region, potentially impacting healthcare provision, competition, and patient access to care.
