Study: PSMA PET/CT Lowers Biopsy Need in Prostate Cancer Screening

New research indicates that using PSMA PET/CT scans can significantly reduce the necessity for biopsies in men at high risk for prostate cancer with unclear MRI results. The study, published in Lancet Oncology, found a nearly 50% reduction in biopsies. This method also decreased the detection of clinically insignificant cancers without missing significant ones, potentially improving diagnostic accuracy and patient care.
