FDA Grants Accelerated Approval for Tzield in Pediatric Type 1 Diabetes

The FDA has provided accelerated approval for Sanofi's Tzield (teplizumab-mzwv) to help slow the progression of type 1 diabetes in children aged 8 to 17 who are newly diagnosed with stage 3 of the condition. This marks the first disease-modifying therapy specifically approved for this pediatric population. The approval offers a new treatment option to preserve insulin production.
