New Oral Antibiotic Approved for Complicated UTIs

The FDA has authorized tebipenem pivoxil (Utebzi) for treating complicated urinary tract infections, including pyelonephritis, in adults. This represents the first oral carbapenem antibiotic approved in the U.S., providing a new treatment option for patients who previously needed intravenous therapy.
