EU Commission Authorizes MAVIRET for Acute Hepatitis C Treatment

The European Commission has granted approval for AbbVie's MAVIRET, an oral antiviral therapy, to treat acute hepatitis C virus infection in adults and children aged three and older. This decision makes MAVIRET the sole treatment in the EU approved for both acute and chronic HCV. The approval is expected to facilitate earlier intervention and advance the goal of eradicating hepatitis C.
