FDA Broadens Pneumococcal Vaccine Use for Vulnerable Children

The FDA has approved an expanded indication for Capvaxive, a pneumococcal 21-valent conjugate vaccine, for children and adolescents aged 2 to 17 years. This expansion targets those with chronic medical conditions who have completed their initial vaccination series and are at increased risk for pneumococcal disease. The aim is to provide broader protection against various Streptococcus pneumoniae serotypes not covered by existing primary regimens.
