FDA Approves First Generic Rifapentine for Tuberculosis

The U.S. FDA has approved the initial generic version of rifapentine tablets, used for both active and latent tuberculosis treatment. This approval provides a more accessible and affordable option for managing TB, a critical component in CDC-recommended regimens. It applies to active pulmonary TB in patients 12 and older and latent TB prevention in those 2 and older.
