Multi-country Salmonella Outbreak Linked to Alfalfa Sprouted Seeds in Europe
A multi-country outbreak of Salmonella Bovismorbificans infections has been linked to alfalfa sprouted seeds, according to a Rapid Outbreak Assessment published by EFSA and ECDC. Between January and May 2026, 109 confirmed cases were reported across 10 European Union/European Economic Area countries and the United Kingdom, resulting in 18 hospitalizations and one fatality.
