A global group of medical professionals and patient advocates has announced a renaming of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) to Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS). This change, reported in The Lancet, aims to better reflect the condition's endocrine and metabolic aspects, which could improve research and diagnosis. The new name will be gradually implemented over several years.
