Study Shows Lower-Cost Rituximab as Effective as Ocrelizumab for Relapsing MS

A Norwegian-Swedish clinical trial published in The New England Journal of Medicine indicates that the more affordable drug rituximab is as effective as ocrelizumab for treating newly diagnosed relapsing multiple sclerosis. The 30-month study found comparable efficacy and safety profiles between the two B-cell depleting therapies. This discovery could significantly reduce treatment costs for MS patients.
