Comprehensive Lancet Review Reaffirms Safety and Effectiveness of mRNA Vaccines
A new review published in The Lancet has reaffirmed that currently approved messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccines are safe and highly effective. The analysis, which pooled laboratory research, clinical trial results, and real-world surveillance data from billions of administered doses, found approximately 87% effectiveness against documented SARS-CoV-2 infection and over 93% against hospitalization and mortality shortly after vaccination. The review also noted that while effectiveness wanes over time, booster doses restore protection.
