WHO Launches First Global Database on Sexually Transmitted Infection Prevalence
The World Health Organization (WHO) has launched a new open-access global database providing consolidated, standardized, and quality-assured data on the prevalence of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) from 2010 onwards. Currently focusing on chlamydia, gonorrhea, herpes simplex virus type 2, syphilis, and trichomoniasis, the database is designed to expand and evolve, containing data from 766 studies and 2453 prevalence data points as of June 2026.
