Six-Month Oral Regimen Proves Effective for Rifampicin-Resistant Tuberculosis

A phase III clinical trial published in The New England Journal of Medicine demonstrated that a six-month, all-oral treatment regimen for pulmonary rifampicin-resistant tuberculosis achieved outcomes comparable to the longer standard-of-care regimen. The study, conducted in South Africa, also showed no significant differences in safety.
