New Study to Examine Metabolic Complications in HIV Patients in Nigeria

A collaborative research study is being launched in northern Nigeria by Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital and Vanderbilt Institute for Global Health. The investigation will focus on cardiometabolic disease risk and the mechanisms behind weight gain in HIV patients newly starting antiretroviral therapy. This research aims to differentiate between healthy weight restoration and problematic weight gain to inform targeted interventions for improved patient health.
