FDA Approves First Oral PCSK9 Inhibitor for High Cholesterol Treatment

The FDA has granted approval for Lipfendra (enlicitide), a new medication for reducing high cholesterol. This marks a significant development as it is the first oral PCSK9 inhibitor available, offering an alternative to previously injectable-only therapies. Lipfendra is intended to be used alongside diet and exercise for adults with hypercholesterolemia, including those with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia.
