New Antibiotic Shows Efficacy Against Drug-Resistant Bacteria in Late-Stage Trial

A global Phase III trial for nacubactam, a novel β-lactamase inhibitor, has demonstrated promising results. The antibiotic combinations, cefepime/nacubactam and aztreonam/nacubactam, showed high treatment success rates for complicated infections caused by carbapenem-resistant Gram-negative bacteria. No significant safety concerns were reported, offering a potential new treatment option for difficult-to-treat infections.
