A new report from the 2025 Small Island Developing States Report of the Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change highlights a worsening health crisis in these nations due to accelerating climate change. The report, launched recently, indicates that infants, elderly, and vulnerable communities are increasingly exposed to extreme heat, rising food insecurity, deteriorating air quality, and a growing risk of infectious diseases. For instance, children under one experienced seven times more heatwave exposure between 2015 and 2024 compared to 2000-2009.
