Gene Therapy Shows Promising Long-Term Results for Eye Diseases

REGENXBIO Inc. has reported encouraging long-term data for its experimental gene therapy, surabgene lomparvovec, in treating wet age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. The findings, presented at a major retina specialists' meeting, indicate sustained safety and effectiveness. Patients with wet AMD experienced stable or improved vision over five years, while those with DR saw a reduction in vision-threatening complications.
