PAHO Study Finds High Prevalence of Neurological Disorders in the Americas

A new study by PAHO, published in The Lancet Regional Health – Americas, reports that approximately 470 million people in the Americas, or two out of five individuals, are affected by a neurological disorder. The research, drawing from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2023, emphasizes a growing need for rehabilitation and long-term care services as the burden shifts from premature mortality to long-term disability.
