GHIT Fund Invests JPY 140 Million in Portable Rapid Diagnostic System for Ebola Disease

The Global Health Innovative Technology (GHIT) Fund has announced an investment of approximately JPY 140 million (USD 862,000) to develop a portable rapid diagnostic system for Ebola disease. This collaborative project, involving Osaka Metropolitan University, K.K. DNAFORM, and the National Institute for Biomedical Research (INRB) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, aims to enhance rapid diagnostic technologies for Ebola outbreaks, particularly those caused by the Bundibugyo virus. The funding will support prototype development, performance validation for Bundibugyo virus detection, and preparations for future clinical evaluation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
