CDC Issues Travel Warning for Costa Rica Due to Chikungunya Outbreak

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a Level 2 travel warning for Americans visiting Costa Rica, advising extra precautions due to an outbreak of the mosquito-borne chikungunya virus, particularly in the Guanacaste Province. Chikungunya causes fever and joint pain, and while most people recover within a week, some may experience severe joint pain for months or years.
