Nationwide recall issued for levothyroxine sodium, a commonly prescribed thyroid drug, due to potency issues

Major Pharmaceuticals has issued a nationwide recall for several lots of levothyroxine sodium tablets, available in different counts and strengths, due to the medication being 'subpotent.' The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) classified this as a Class II recall on July 17, with the notice published this week. Levothyroxine sodium is widely prescribed in the United States to treat hypothyroidism.
