CDC expands Cyclospora outbreak to nine states, linked to iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms de Mexico

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has expanded a Cyclospora outbreak to include nine states: Illinois, Kansas, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia. Health officials have identified 1,947 confirmed illnesses among people who reported eating at Taco Bell in the affected states, with illnesses beginning on June 22 and continuing through July 20. Investigators believe contaminated iceberg lettuce supplied by Taylor Farms de Mexico is the likely source, leading to a recall of shredded lettuce. Over 12,000 cases of cyclosporiasis have been reported across the nine affected states this summer.
