Female Infertility Among Women Over 35 Projected to Affect 80 Million by 2036, Becoming a Major Public Health Issue

A new global study published in The Lancet Obstetrics, Gynaecology & Women's Health warns that female infertility, particularly among women aged 35 to 49, is rapidly becoming a public health crisis. The study estimates that nearly 80 million women worldwide could be living with infertility by 2036, a significant increase from 53.6 million in 2023. This rise is attributed to demographic shifts, delayed motherhood, and changing lifestyles, highlighting that infertility is no longer just a personal challenge but a broader societal concern requiring public health interventions beyond IVF.
