Rapamycin Temporarily Reverses Autism-Like Symptoms in Adult Mice Study

A UCLA Health study in mice demonstrated that inflammation during pregnancy can lead to persistent autism-like behaviors in offspring. Remarkably, a single dose of the immune-suppressing drug rapamycin temporarily improved these symptoms in adult mice within hours. While the effects were not permanent, this research suggests adult brain circuits may possess more plasticity than previously understood, opening new avenues for understanding and potentially addressing autism-related conditions.
