New Combination Therapy Shows Promise for Relapsed Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia

Primary results from the Phase 3 BRUIN CLL-322 trial, published in The Lancet, indicate that adding the noncovalent Bruton tyrosine kinase (BTK) inhibitor pirtobrutinib to the standard venetoclax-rituximab regimen nearly halved the risk of disease progression or death in patients with previously treated chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) or small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL). This finding could significantly impact future treatment sequencing for the disease.
